Grave marker for Cpl Eugene H. Kirkland in Section N Site
31300A, Long Island National Cemetery, East Farmingdale (Suffolk
county), New York. Cp Kirkland died on 8
May 1968 of multiple fragmentation wounds suffered during an
engagement east of Firebase Bastogne, 12 km West South West of
Nam Hoa, South Vietnam.
 His
sacrifice was recognized by the State of New York when he was
posthumously awarded the Conspicuous Service Cross on 20 January
1969.
