Grave marker for Pfc R. Q. Lester at Plot H Row 2 Grave 3 in the Henri Chapelle American Cemetery, Belgium

Pfc Lester was transferred from the 509th PIR to Company E, 508th on 4 February 1945 and was seriously wounded in action just five days later.  He subsequently died of his wounds on 20 February 1945. 

Lester who apparently had been wounded while he was in the 509th, was awarded the Purple Heart with one Oak Leaf Cluster.
