PVT EDSEL A. MALONE

Grave marker for Pvt Edsel A. Malone at Plot E Row 18 Grave 6 in the Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial in Colleville-sur-Mer, France

Pvt Malone was killed in action on June 7, 1944 and was awarded the Purple Heart.

Edsel's Will
written on 13 July 1942 at Camp Cook, VA bequeathed his personal assets to his mother, Myrtle M. Malone.
Shortly after that he sent the will to his mother for safekeeping.
This was a standard military will form and was to be completed by all service members. Most did so without thinking it would ever apply to them.

Dear Mother

How are you today fine I hope.  I am O.K. I got out of the hospital yesterday.

This is my will be sure and keep it you might need it sometime.

Love, Edsel
