Permanent Interment record for Pvt George R. McCarron in
Block J, Row 4, Grave 42 of the Sicily-Rome American Cemetery, Nettuno,
Italy. Note that he was initially interred in the temporary
cemetery in Block C, Row 11, Grave 130 George
enlisted in the Army at Philadelphia, PA on 4 February 1943.
On 7 August 1943 Pvt McCarron joined Company E, 508th
PIR after being transferred from the Parachute School, Fort Benning, GA.
On 2 September Pvt McCarron was one of 28 men that
were transferred to RS [Replacement Station?] #990. He was
apparently later transferred to the 504th PIR with whom he served in
Italy and was killed in action on 30 January 1944 |
