PFC CHARLES E. McGARY

Grave marker for Pfc Charles E. McGary in the Mount Kenton Cemetery Paducah McCracken County Kentucky

Charles enlisted in the Army at Toledo, OH on 4 December 1942 and after completion of jump school was sent overseas.  Pfc McGary was first assigned to an 82nd Airborne Replacement Depot (FFRD #8) in England.  On 31 March 1944 he was  transferred to Company D, 508th PIR.

Pfc McGary was killed in action on 17 June 1944 and was posthumously awarded both the Purple Heart and the Combat Infantryman Badge (CIB).
