7 Tar Heels Die In War

   WASHINGTON (UPI) — The Defense Department's latest list of Vietnam casualties released Monday included seven North Carolinians. They were: Army: Capt. Larry W. Jones, son of Mrs. Katherine T. Jones of Greensboro; Sgt. Tommy D. Mabe, son of Mr. and Mrs. Curtis G. Mabe of Winston- Salem; Sgt. Charles E. McGee, husband of Mrs. Mary McGee of Fayetteville; Cpl. Larry M. Roberson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Roberson of Burlington; and Pfc. Billy D. Kennington, husband of Mrs. Violet M. Kennington of Charlotte.

Sgt McGee, 1st Bn, B Co, was killed in action by Small Arms Fire on 21 March 1968 in Thua Thien, Vietnam,  He was awarded the Purple Heart.

Sgt McGee is honored on Panel 45E, Row 47 of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, DC
