PFC PAUL MILLIKIN

Paul Millikin MINIER. (PNS) Pvt. Paul Millikin was killed in action Jan 22 in Belgium according to word received Monday from the War department by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Millikin. He received his basic training as a paratrooper at Fort Benning. Ga. and went overseas in September, 1944.. He was attached to the 82nd airborne division and saw action in Germany and Belgium, He was born Oct. 16, 1925 at Salem and graduated from Stanford Community High school in i943.. In addition parents, he is survived by the following sisters: Mrs. Glen Myers, Miruer; Mrs. Don Woodmancy, 407 North Mason street,, Bloomington,; Mrs.. Eddie Oehler, Danvers and Peggy, at home. Mr. Myers, his brother in law, is in service in the Pacific. Pvt. Millikan is the Millikan man to die in action.

Memorial
Rites Sunday

   STANFORD. Memorial services will be held at 2:30 p. m. Sunday at the Stanford Christian church for Pfc. Paul Millikin who was killed in action in Belgium Jan. 22. Pfc. Millikin was a paratrooper and was attached to the 82nd airborne division. He had been overseas since September, 1944. He received the presidential citation for action in Germany. He was the only son of Mr. and Mrs. Glen Millikin of Minier. Also surviving are four sisters; Mrs. Glen Myers, Mrs. Don Woodmancy, Mrs. Edward Oehler and Miss Peggy Millikin.

Grave marker for Pfc Paul Millikin in the Minier Cemetery, Minier (Tazewell County), Illinois

 

Paul registered for the draft in Morton, IL on 16 October 1943 and was inducted into the Army on 2 November 1942.

Pfc Millikin was killed in action on January 22, 1945 and was posthumously awarded the Purple Heart.
