IS MISSING IN ACTION

   Mr. and Mrs. Spencer Murray of North Bristol were notified yesterday by the War Department that their son Pfc Maynard F Murray of the 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment had been missing in action in France since June 6.
  The telegram from the adjutant general was as follows: ’The Secretary of War desires me to express his deep regret that your son Private First Class Maynard F Murray has been reported missing in action since June 6 in France. If further details or other information are received you will be promptly notified."
  Pfc Murray entered the army in Bristol on April 14 1943 was trained as a paratrooper at Little Rock, Ark and had been overseas since last Christmas

MISSING IN ACTION

Pfc Maynard F Murray has been missing in action in France since June 6 his parents Mr. and Mrs. Spencer Murray of North Bristol have been notified by the War Department.
  Pfc Murray, a member of the 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment, entered the army in Bristol on April 14 1943, He was trained as a paratrooper at Little Rock Ark. and has been overseas since last December

Mr. and Mrs. Spencer Murray of Route 2 Bristol Va. have been notified by the secretary of war that their son Pfc Maynard F Murray previously reported missing in action was killed in action July 12 in France.

   Funeral services for Pfc Maynard Franklin Murray 19 who was killed July 12 1944 in France will be at 2 p m tomorrow at North Bristol Baptist Church The Rev Charles Hawkins will conduct and burial will be In Garrett’s Cemetery. The America!) Legion will be in charge at the grave.
   Pfc Murray was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Spencer Murray of Route 2 Bristol Va. He is survived by three sisters; Maxine and Margaret Murray and Mrs. Robert Boher all of Bristol and seven brothers Everett J C Bruce Gaylord Billy Bobbie and Harold all of Bristol -The body -which arrived yesterday will be moved from Akard Funeral Home to the parents' residence at 10 a m today

Grave markers for Maynard F. Murray in Garrett Cemetery, Washington county, Virginia.

Maynard enlisted in the Army at Abingdon, VA on 7 April 1943.

Pvt Murray was transferred from the 513th PIR to Company H, 508th PIR on 29 Oct 1944.

He was appointed to the grade of PFC on 23 November 1943.

Pfc Murray was killed in action  in France on 12 July 1944.

His military decorations include the Purple Heart and the Combat Infantryman Badge, both awarded posthumously.
