Young
Victor Ramesa died in combat
in France
on
the fifth of July, the
son of well-known
labor movement friends,
brother and sister,
Anne and
Vincent Ramesa.
The late Victor
was born in New
York on
18 July
1924, and his heroic death
happened on the battle-field
in France just
13 days before his twentieth
birthday.
Victor
lived with his parents in New
York until he went
into the army. He served as a
paratrooper -
the most dangerous
service in the armed forces.
Ramesa's brother and sister
were known for their active
work in New York,
where they lived for many
years. They
arrived in Los
Angeles some six
months
ago.
The sad news about
the death of their
son, such as hundreds of
thousands of others around the
world, whose
sons lost
their young lives
in the fight for the world
to be able to
be free and true to
life of human
beings and their
sacrifices are not
in vain because
fascism is already
groaning under the recent
shocks of free
democratic forces.
With this cry, "Glory
to you,
unforgettable fighter,
friend and comrade
Victor and to
his
grieving father,
mother, brother
[and sister], our deepest
condolences."
