PERCY S. REED

Pvt Perce Samuel Reed a paratrooper in 82nd Airborne was reported MIA 12/23/44 in Belgium. He lived 615 Champion Ave and graduated South High and was studying Aeronautical Engineering at Ohio State when he was drafted 4/3/43 in Columbus. He trained with an Engineer unit then transferred to paratroopers and went overseas a year ago.

REED, Pvt. Perce Samuel , age 21 son of Mr. and Mrs. Percy S. Reed, 615 S. Champion-Av., killed in the battle of the Bulge, Dec. 23, 1944. Also survived by brothers, Robert R. and Paul R.; sister, Ruth Carol.
Graduate of South High School, and attended OSU in 1943. Member of the Engineer Corps, later transferred to the Paratroopers. Member of the Oakwood Methodist Church, where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, Dr. Samuel R. Dunham officiating. Friends may call at the residence after 4 p.m., Saturday until 12
noon Monday. Burial in Green Lawn Cemetery, by CHARLES J. PHIPPS.

Grave marker for Perce S. Reed in Section 102 , Lot 151 of the Green Lawn Cemetery, Columbus (Franklin county), Ohio.

Perce enlisted in the Army at Columbus, OH on 3 April 1943 and was assigned to Service Company, 508th PIR.

He was killed in action in Belgium on 23 December 1944 and was posthumously awarded the Purple Heart and the Combat Infantryman badge for the Ardennes Campaign, 18 December 1944 to 26 January 1945.
