On 27 October 1945, Pfc Rimmer was transferred to Co F, 508th PIR from either the 504th PIR .

He was discharged on 13 November 1945 and immediately re-enlisted the following day.  Taking advantage of a generous re-enlistment furlough bonus, he was placed on TDY with the 6903 Reinforcement Battalion, Le Havre, France and was provided transportation to the U.S.

On 7 April, 1947, he married Charlotte Mott in the 504th Airborne Chapel No 16, Fort Bragg.

It was she who had the misfortune of having to sign his grave marker application four years later.
