PVT BEDFORD L. ROBERTSON

Grave marker application for Pvt Bedford L. Robertson to be erected in Belmont Memorial Park, Fresno (Fresno), CA

The application was completed on 18 November 1947 by John Robertson.  The marker was shipped to the cemetery on 31 March 1948.

Bedford enlisted in the Army at Ft MacArthur, San Pedro, CA on 13 September 1940.

On 10 August 1944 Pvt Robertson was transferred from the 11th Replacement Depot, England to Co "I", 508th in Nottingham.

Pvt Robertson was wounded while fighting in Holland in September 1944 and was evacuated to a field hospital.  He returned to the regiment in November 1944.

Bedford went back into action when the regiment was called up for the Ardennes offensive on 18 December 1944.  He was killed in action on 31 December 1944.  He was posthumously awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge for the  Ardennes Campaign, 18 December 1944 to 26 January 1945.
