Application for a Headstone or Marker and resulting stone for Pfc Stephen L. Rzasa in the Holy Cross Cemetery, Calumet City, IL

Pfc Rzasa is officially listed as having been killed in action on June 20, 1944 although the memorial book entry above states that he died on June 9th.   The confusion may have resulted from earlier report of his being injured on D-Day but is still off by three days.

Stephen was awarded the Purple Heart and Combat Infantryman Badge, both posthumously, as well as the Good Conduct Medal which was awarded in November 1943.
