PFC HARRY W. SCHMELTZER

The National Jewish Welfare Board responded to a request made on 18 October 1944 by Anna Schmeltzer, Harry's mother, and confirmed his death.

Grave markers for Pfc Harry W. Schmeltzer in the Schmeltzer Family Plot, Section 44, Lots 56/57, Mount Greenwood Cemetery, Chicago (Cook County), Illinois.

Pfc Schmeltzer was killed in action on June 10, 1944 and was posthumously awarded the Pure Heart.

SCHMELTZER
Pfc. Harry W. Schmeltzer, U.S.A., Co. D, 508th Paratroop Infantry, 82nd Airborne Division, killed in action in Normandy, June 10, 1944, beloved son of August and Anna, fond brother of Ann Hauptmann, August Jr., and Frieda.

Remains at chapel, 7032 Wentworth avenue, from 5 p.m., Friday, until noon Saturday. Services Saturday, at 2 p.m., at Zion Lutheran church, 99th and Winston avenue. Interment Mount Greenwood. Military honors by Beverly Hills post, No. 407, American Legion
