1st LT EUGENE H. SHAVITCH

 

Records of the National Jewish Welfare Board document 1/Lt Shavitch as a casualty and list his parents at their home address.

 Although Eugene was Jewish, these records were not limited to casualties practicing that faith.

LT. EUGENE SHAVITCH

   Reburial services for Lt. Eugene Shavitch, 27, paratrooper who was killed in the invasion of  Normandy June 6, 1944, will be at 10 a.m., Tuesday at Fort Snelling National cemetery.
   Lit. Shavitch was a graduate of West high school and attended Grinnell college.
   Survivors are his parents, Mr.. and Mrs. Joseph Shavitch, 2835 Girard avenue S, and four sisters, Beatrice, Mrs.. Bernard Wolfson, Mrs. Oscar Rutchick and Mrs. Harold Pollock/.

Interment record and grave marker for 1st Lt. Eugene H. Shavitch in Section B, Site 328-N of the Fort Snelling National Cemetery,  Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Lt. Shavitch was killed in action on June 6, 1944 and was awarded the Purple Heart.
