SGT CURTIS B. SIDES

Grave marker for Sgt Curtis B. Sides in the Smith Chapel Cemetery, Carbon Hill (Walker county), Alabama.

Curtis enlisted in the Army at Ft McClellan, AL on 29 August 1942. 

Pfc Sides participated in the Normandy invasion and was promoted to Sergeant on 21 July 1944 shortly after the regiment returned from the France campaign.

On 21 September 1944, during fighting near the Beek church, Holland, Sgt Sides was killed by a sniper.

Om 23 September 1944. Sgt Sides was interred in the Molenhoek cemetery, in Plot A, Row 10, Grave 181.  Following the war his family chose to have his remains repatriated and he was laid to rest in his native Alabama.
