2ND LT ANTON C. SNEIDER
   Anton Sneider, 23, died on June 16, 1965 of a head wound received while serving with the U.S. Forces in Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic. Lt. Sneider passed away while enroute by plane to Fort Bragg, N.C., after he was wounded. The wound may have been inflicted by a sniper.
   A Requiem High Mass was said at St. Xavier's Church, Spokane, June 22, 1965, and military services were at the graveside of the Holy Cross Cemetery. Burial took place at the Garden Crypt Mausoleum.
   Anton was born March 3, 1942. Tony attended Thorp Public Schools, St. Hedwig's, Gonzaga Prep High and Gonzaga University, Spokane, Wash.
   Lt. Sneider was honored at Gonzaga University: In 1963 he was named a Distinguished Military Student in his Reserve Officers Training Corp unit at Gonzaga. In 1964 he was named a
Distinguished Military Graduate of the University. He was a member of the Loyola Guard for two years. The citation awarded him at the time said the presentation was made for his "displaying outstanding qualities of leadership, high moral character, noteworthy academic achievement and exceptional aptitude for military service."
   As a commissioned officer, Lt. Sneider joined the 82nd Airborne Corp Division, Fort Bragg, N.C., and was called immediately into service. He was a U.S. paratrooper. She spent time at Fort Benning Georgia, and also Puerto Rico.

   Survivors include his parents Mr. and Mrs. Mike I. Sneider, East 1127 Euclid, Spokane, Wash., and a brother, Michael A. Sneider.

Remarkably, Lt Snider's death was not widely reported in news outside Washington State, only two examples were found.

Death Is Announced
   WASHINGTON (AP) --- Army Second Lt. Anton C. Sneider, 23, did of wounds in Santo Domingo June 16, the Defense Department said today.
   His parents, Mr. and Mrs. Mike I. Sneider Jr., live at Spokane Wash.
