Three Michigan Men
Are Slain in Vietnam

   WASHINGTON (AP) -- Three Michigan servicemen are listed among 54 Americans killed in recent Vietnam action, the Defense Department reported in  Washington Monday.
. Army Spec. 4 Gary B. Nichols, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert J. Nichols of Melvindale,, and Marine Pfc. Albert J. Van Horn, son of Mr. and Mrs. Morris Van Horn of Daggett,, were killed in action.
  Changed from the missing to dead in hostile action was Army Spec. 4 Ronald R. son of Mr. and Mrs., Gilmore Somes of Sault Ste. Marie.

Specialist Somes,  Company E, 1st Battalion, 508th Infantry, was killed when the jeep he was riding in hit a mine in Hau Nghia Province, RVN,

His military decorations include the Purple Heart, Bronze Star (Merit), Air Medal, and the Army Commendation Medal.
