PVT JACK L. SPRINKLE

(courtesy of Terra McDavid)

Grave marker for Pvt Jack L. Sprinkle in the Cooper-Parsons Cemetery, Stone Creek (Lee ), Virginia.

Pvt Sprinkle was wounded in action on 13 June 44 and evacuated to a field hospital.  He died as a result of those wounds on 5 July 44.

His awards include the Purple Heart and Combat infantryman Badge, both awarded posthumously.

Side note: Jack's best boyhood friend was Eugene Parsons. Both men served in the Army during WWII but only Eugene survived.  The two had shared such a deep and loyal friendship that it was his wish to be buried beside Jack.

Upon Eugene's death in 2008, and with the blessings of the Sprinkle family, his wish was carried out.  His beloved wife, Lillian Cooper Parsons was buried there as well two years later.
