Two-Car Crash
Kills 3
Three
men, one of them a soldier Ft Fort Campbell, are dead as a result of a
two-car collision 1 1/2 miles north of Pembroke, Kentucky, about 3 a.m.
today.
Dead are Sp-3 Donald D. Wahl, 25, Battery A, 321st [sic] Field Artillery,
Fort Campbell; Richie Worth, civilian from Miami Beach, Fla.; and Julius
A. Waggoner, address unknown.
Injured and in Fort Campbell Military Hospital is Sp-3 Jim R.
Hunter, also of Battery A. His condition is listed as not serious.
Fort Campbell authorities report that the automobiles, driven by
Wahl and Worth, hit head- on. Waggoner and Wahl were dead on
arrival at Jennis Stuart Hospital in Hopkinsville, Ky. Worth died about
5:15 this morning at the same hospital.
Wahl was a veteran o- four years in the service. Next of kin of the
dead men had not been! determined this morning.

State GI, 2 Others Die in Head-on Crash
HOPK1NSVILLE, Ky. (AP) --- A Fort Campbell soldier and
two civilians were killed Saturday in a head-on collision on U.S. 41
between here and Pembroke, Ky. The soldier was identified as Donald
Duane Wahl, 22, son of Mr. and Mrs. B. M. Wahl, of Blanchardville, Wis.
Killed in the other automobile were Richie S. Worth, 33, Miami
Beach, Fla., and a passenger, Julius A. Wagner, about 65. Wagner's
address was not known. State police said Worth . was a native of
Brooklyn, N. Y.

Nine Are Killed In 3 Kentucky Wrecks

Kentucky's weekend highway death toll got
off to a fast start with nine deaths recorded in the early morning hours
of Saturday.
Seven died in two accidents in Western Kentucky. Two died in a
crash near Shelbyville in central Ohio.
A car driven by Harry Clinton Breed Jr. of Louisville left
U.S 63 on a curve, plunged down an embankment and crashed into a tree.
Both Breed, 28, and his wife were killed.
On U.S. 62 near Princeton, a head-on collision killed Thomas R.
McCoy, Eddyville; Guy C. Blythe, Cobb, Rt. 1; Ida Louise Knoth, and
Sarah Chandler, both of Kuttawa. James R. Holt of Kuttawa was injured
critically. Blythe was alone in his car.

Deputy Sheriff Charles Jones said the other car, which burst into flames, was driven by McCoy.
On U.S. 41 between Pembroke and Hopkinsville a Fort Campbell soldier and two other men were killed in a 2-car crash.
The soldier was identified as Donald Duane Wahl, 22, son of Mr. and
Mrs. B. M. Wahl, Blanchardville, Wis.
Another soldier, James R. Hunter, 21, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Paul
Hunter of Little Rock, Ark., was injured slightly.
Killed in the other car were Richie S. Worth, 33, Miami Beach, F!a., and a passenger, Julius A. Wagner, about 65. Wagner's address wasn't known.
The deaths brought Kentucky's total for the year to 643, compared with 717 for the same period last year.

Donald Wahl Dies in Crash
Specialist 3rd Class Donald D Wahl, 22, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ben M. Wahl, Blanchardville, was killed Saturday in a traffic accident near Hopkinsville, Ky.
He was stationed at Ft. Campbell, a member of the 101st Airborne Division.
Two civilians, in another car, also were killed in the head-on collision on U. S. Highway 41. No further details were reported today.
The body is being returned to Blanchardville where Saether funeral home will be in charge The casket will be sent to Monroe by train.
Wahl was one of 13 children in the family. He had completed three years military service and recently re-enlisted for two
years.
He was baptized in Blanchardville Lutheran church, attended high school there for two years and graduating from Hazel Green high school.
Surviving are the parents, eight brothers, Jerry, serving with the Marine Air Force in Hawaii; Franklyn and Richard at home, and Clinton, Doral, Robert, Vernon and Gene; four sisters, June, a nurse at Hazel Green; Ruth, serving with the Air Force in Texas, and Helen and Shirley, at home.
