2/LT COURTNEY M. WEAVER, JR.
 

Grave marker application and resulting marker for 2nd Lt Courtney M. Weaver, Jr. to be erected in Lot 23544, Section 184, Grave RLC of Green-Wood Cemetery, Brooklyn, NY

Although a college graduate, Courtney enlisted at Ft Jay, Governors Island, NY as a Private on 29 September 1942.  He was later tapped for OCS and commissioned on 24 February 1944.

On 27 October 1944, Lt Weaver was transferred from the 82nd AB Division, Leicester England to Service Company, 508th with the principal duty of Assistant Platoon Leader.

On 28 November 1944 Lt Weaver was transferred to Company C, just prior to the regiment being called up for the Battle of The Bulge.  He was killed in action on 7 January 1945.

His military decorations include the posthumous award of the Purple Heart and the Combat Infantryman Badge.
