SSGT EDWARD W. WILD

Edward W. Wild

   Funeral services for SSgt. Edward W. Wild, 22, who was killed in action in Belgium January 22, 1945, will be at 9 a.m. tomorrow at Heady's Chapel and at 9:30 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park.
   Wild, who lived at 978 Barret, was in the Army three years. He was previously employed by the Henry Fischer Packing Company. Survivors are his mother, Mrs. Lorena Wild; three sisters, Mrs. Louis Scanlon, Miss Margaret Louise Wild, and Miss Carolyn Marie Wild, and three brothers, John A. Wild, Charles R. Wild, and George A. Wild.

Edward enlisted in the Army at Fort Benjamin Harrison, IN on 21 October 1942.  Pvt Wild was transferred to Company C, 508th PIR.

He was appointed to the grade of Pfc on 1 April 1943 and then three weeks later to T/5 on 22 April.

His military decorations include the Purple Heart and the Combat infantryman Badge awarded for action during Normandy, France Campaign, 6 June 1944 to 9 July 1944
