Grave marker for Trino F. Maldonado in Lakeside Cemetery,
Eagle Lake (Colorado county), Texas. Trino
enlisted in the Army on 23 February 1943 and went through basic training
and jump school before joining up with the 508th at Camp Mackall, NC.
Pvt Maldonado was transferred to Co E, 508th PIR on 30
August 1943
On the flight to Normandy for the Invasion of France,
his chute pack broke open twice while in the aircraft and he jumped with
it in his arms to release it into the air after exiting the aircraft.
Pvt Maldonado was promoted to Pfc on 4 January 1945
and he was discharged on 10 November 1945.
His military decorations include the Bronze Service
Arrowhead device awarded for participation in the Normandy assault. |
