MANION
- Louis Wallace, 84, went to be with his Lord, November 4, 2009. He was a
retired employee of DuPont,, an Army veteran of World War II, serving with
the 82nd Airborne Division, 508 Reg. and was a member of their KY Chapter
Assoc., a member of the Harmonics of Louisville, and Shively Christian
Church.
Survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Martha Jean (Jenkins)
Manion; his children, Louis W. Manion, Jr., Steve Manion (Margie), Debbie
Piper (Darell), Diane Knabel (Joe), Karen Sue Keener (David), Shirley Joseph
(Vernon) and Mark Manion; 16 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and his
sister, Mary Juanita Manion. Funeral: 11 a.m. Saturday at Owen Funeral Home,
5317 Dixie Highway with burial in Beth Haven Cemetery. Visitation: 11 a.m. -
8 p.m. Friday.

Airborne Chapter: November's BulletinPAST
CHAIRMAN PASSES AWAY: Louie Manion, one of the last founding members of our
chapter and WWII paratrooper with HHQ 2/508 PIR having 2 combat jumps
(D-Day, Holland) has made his last jump early the morning of November 4th,
2009. His final resting place is Beth Haven cemetery, Louisville, KY. He is
survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Martha Jean (Jenkins) Manion; his
children, Louis W. Manion, Jr., Steve Manion (Margie), Debbie Piper (Darell),
Diane Knabel (Joe), Karen Sue Keener (David), Shirley Joseph (Vernon) and
Mark Manion; 16 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and his sister, Mary
Juanita Manion.

Pvt Manion was a member of the Headquarters Company, 2nd
Battalion.
He was awarded the Bronze Service Arrowhead device for
participation in the Normandy assault.
