PvtRobert G. Mangers was captured on Christmas Day 1944 and sent to POW camp Stalag 13C.
He escaped in Germany while being transported from Stalag 13C and was
recaptured shortly afterwards. He escaped again and made it back to the
American lines in April 1945. He was awarded the Silver Star.
