was wounded and held prisoner for two weeks but was released to a hospital in England on the assumption he would never walk again. Within a few months, he was jumping out of airplanes and back in combat. Personal recollections of D-Day and his capture)

Pvt Julius M. Cochran Gordon H. Cullings
joined the 508 in July  1944.  After seeing the men return from Normandy he volunteered for the 
medics.  He completed jump school at
Chilton Foliat (Wiltshire), England.
  
He was awarded both the Silver Star and Bronze Star Medals as well as the Purple  Heart with one Oak Cluster.
