SATURDAY, JUNE 6, 2004 CHEF DU PONT - O.B. HILL'S MEMORIAL |
Mayoral Speech welcomed the group with words speaking of the 508th's unique contribution | Mayoral Introduction of Jean Baptiste Feuillye was almost a mere formality.. Known as "Bobby" throughout the 508th, Jean Baptiste spoke of his experiences as a youth of 13 years when the 508th came to Normandy. 'Bobby' learned his first English words from the G.I.'s (most of which cannot be printed here). In time he became their 'mascot' and helped in many ways. After the war ended he worked in California for two years, perfecting his English while there. There too he became close friends with California O.B. Hill. Feuillye was there to memorialize his friend O.B. along with the rest of the 508th. (Photo courtesy Patrick Elie) |
