CHEF DU PONT - O.B. HILL'S MEMORIAL

French Flags
adorn the rear of the park

Reminiscing
Jack Schlegel (l) and Tom Porcella observe the ceremonies. Both 508ers have become somewhat local legends in this area of Normandy.

Little Flag-Wavers
a number of children took advantage of the ceremony and vigorously wagged their U.S. flags

Walter Barrett
was mobbed by kids wanting his autograph and he was happy to accommodate them

Hey Joe, You Got Gum?
That was a phrase that G.I.'s heard all the time from kids throughout the ETO.
Ernie Lamson, mistakenly identified here as a member of the 21st ABN Division, came prepared as he knew that kids all over still love chewing gum.
The photo appeared in an unidentified French newspaper
