LA FIERE MEMORIAL PARK - CHUTES AND CHUTISTS

Backlighting
makes a dramatic effect on these chutes

It's Raining Men
Closely resembling the concentrations of parachutists that stormed this area on D-Day

Overwhelming
Most attendees had never seen more than a few parachutists at one time.  Seeing hundreds was a heart-stopping event

Angry Clouds
look worse than they were and they didn't pose a problem to these jumpers

"Storm Troopers"
arrayed against rain threatening clouds, these parachutists were an awe-inspiring sight

Smoke Jumpers
Parachutists head for the green canister smoke as a central DZ target

One More Time
Jumpers hasten back to the staging area with their used chutes to make still another jump

Dominique Launay
a friend of Bill Nation shown after his jump at La Fiere.  He is a former member of  "The Red Dragons" an elite French paratrooper outfit.
