Sgt. White seeing
the enemy was preparing his position under mortar
and intense automatic weapons fire, moved from
foxhole to foxhole alerting the men who were
down in their holes. While doing this
the enemy attacked but due to Sgt White's alertness
and disregard for himself, the enemy was driven
back. |
g. |
Sgt White's squad
with one other squad was assigned the mission
of covering the highway and two railway bridges
over which the enemy would try to advance.
The enemy tried to infiltrate his position besides
attempting to cross the bridges which were eventually
blown, and swimming the Salm river. |

the following day Sgt White, while under continuous
small arms fire, moved from position to position
encouraging his men and directing their fire.
