GOOD NEWS STORIES OF THE WEEK:

PFC Dunne distinguished himself last week by being the first to finish the Bravo Company's 6.6 mile road march. He completed the road march in just over an hour. Even though the road march was conducted on an unforgiving route including deep sand firebreaks and numerous hills, PFC Dunne dominated the terrain. He exemplified what it means to be a Paratrooper by demonstrating excellent mental and physical stamina. PFC Dunne serves as an automatic rifleman and platoon armorer in 3rd Platoon. He is an All American team player that all Paratroopers and Leaders can rely on to complete any task. He does not yield to weakness or fatigue. This Paratrooper has unlimited potential.
THIS WEEK:
This week, 1-508 PIR's focus was preparation for JRTC, including outload with the packing of our containers. Across the battalion, the companies executed several ranges as part of a weapons density week, including M4 zero/qual, MG zero/qual, M9 qual, AT4 firing, and M320 qualification. Paratroopers across the battalion also conducted CLS training to increase our medical readiness, as well as deep-dives on "knowing your enemy" in preparation for JRTC. Our S6 shop led a BN JCR COMEX at the BN motor pool [storyboard attached, more below]. On Wednesday, the BN Staff participated in CPX #2 at the Mission Training Center, which further reinforced our team-building and capability to succeed in the TOC on multiple ABCS systems. Our staff also focused heavily on planning the next two weeks, which will consist of conducting the Retirement Ceremony on behalf of the Division, executing the Division change of command rehearsals, editing and re-printing our PSOP, preparing our Recovery order for post-JRTC, conducting all the prerequisite training and movement for our platoon going to ASKARI STORM, and B/3-Para RSOI - which will include running small arms and machine gun ranges for them to zero/qualify and putting together Jumpmaster teams to conduct their daytime progression jump here on Fort Bragg.
NEXT WEEK:
Next week, 1-508 PIR's focus will be ITDSA inspections and CLACC for JRTC. 1-508 PIR will represent the Division and Brigade by executing the Division Retirement Ceremony on Thursday, as well as participate in the Division Change of Command rehearsal on Friday. Companies will conduct their JRTC ROE training in conjunction with our SJA advisors as well. In addition to Staff CPX #3, several leaders from the battalion will participate in the CAO course 20-16.
AIRBORNE OPERATIONS:
This week, 1-508 PIR exited 9 Paratroopers across two lines. On Saturday, approximately 40 Paratroopers are templated to participate in the SPJP jump.
BUILD READY AND RESILIENT PARATROOPERS AND FAMILIES:
On Tuesday evening, spouses in 1-508 PIR met for a BN Coffee event at the Sherefe in downtown Fayetteville.
MAINTENANCE and EQUIPMENT:
1-508 PIR completed two services this week, three NVGs, and 16 weapons systems. In addition, the battalion turned in 32 pieces of excess equipment and conducted a unit wide JCR layout. During this layout, led by the S6 team, an additional 8 x JCR systems became fully mission capable. The layout identified key shortages for CPUs and placed 6 new devices on CL IX order. Finally, the J CO executed repair efforts on all vehicles on the JRTC PVL and completed ULACC on the battalion rolling stock scheduled for rail load next week.
