SITREPS 508/1

24-30 July 2016

GOOD NEWS STORIES OF THE WEEK:

Panther of the Week: 1LT Nylund, our LNO for B/3 Para, has done an amazing job over the last month coordinating for their company to conduct four mission-essential ranges prior to JRTC. 1LT Nylund has completed the reception of their entire company, resourced all transportation needs, and completed their outload preparations for ammunition and equipment on containers this week. 1LT Nylund was instrumental in the coordination for 3 Para to complete their BAR and proficiency jump prior to JRTC this week. Without question, 1LT Nylund's efforts have been paramount to the successful reception, integration, and outload of B/3 Para.

- 1F6, LTC Justin Reese, earned his Master Parachutist Badge on a jump last week. The Division Commander, MG Clarke, pinned these wings on LTC Reese in an impromptu ceremony on Wednesday during the Division Retirement Ceremony Rehearsal on Stang Field.

- 1-508 PIR represented the Division and Panthers in stellar fashion this week by conducting the Division Retirement Ceremony for 11 x retirees. Our Paratroopers performed very well and earned the praise of the Division Chain of Command, including AA7.

THIS WEEK:

This week, CPT Kyle Frazer (HHC commander and Personnel Outload OIC) flawlessly executed outload operations for 688 Panthers and attached personnel on 16 buses to JRTC. All 1-508 equipment - including 52 pieces of rolling stock and 32 containers - has been inspected and loaded on rail cars for JRTC. We received B/3 Para on Monday evening and quickly integrated them into Tuesday's division change of command with our battalion, while also loading their containers for movement to JRTC. Quickly following the change of command, we conducted training briefs with their company commander (MAJ Cox), issued B/3 Para air items, and conducted multiple RIGGEXs in preparation for basic airborne refresher. All jumping B/3 Para pax completed BAR on Wednesday and are fully prepared for their jump and follow-on mission on Thursday afternoon alongside 1-508 PIR. Our companies continued preparing for JRTC, including "Know Your Enemy" testing, packing, inspections, CLS recertification, EXROE testing, conducting battle drills, and increased physical training. A Co continued using the Modular Training Facility they constructed last week for Battle Drill 6 in preparation for JRTC

NEXT WEEK:

Next week, 1-508 PIR will execute six ranges for B/3 Para, including small arms zero/qual, machine gun zero/qual, a sniper range, the RVTT, and the EST. 1-508 PIR will conduct personnel outload and deploy with Main Bodies 1, 2, and 3.

LEADER DEVELOPMENT:
- 1-508 PIR currently has two leaders in Jumpmaster School and three future Jumpmaster on the "Needs PWAC" roster.
- 1-508 PIR has five Paratroopers in Ranger School (2 x Darby, 2 x Mountains, 1 x Florida)

BUILD READY AND RESILIENT PARATROOPERS AND FAMILIES:
On Wednesday, 1-508 PIR hosted a battalion FRG meeting at the Pope FRG Center. 2LT Bledsoe, the battalion FRL, coordinated the venue as well as arranged pizza and drinks for the families of 1Fury Paratroopers who attended.

MAINTENANCE and EQUIPMENT:
1-508 PIR has completed all overdue services, with zero remaining for the battalion.

ATW,

MAJ Dru Rhodes
