SITREPS 508/1

3-16 SEP 2016

GOOD NEWS STORIES OF THE WEEK:

The main focus these past two weeks was redeployment and recovery from JRTC. Rolling stock redeployment from JRTC continues; only 4 x prime movers and 4 x trailers remain on a train at FPLA, which is scheduled to depart on 18 SEP. We have received all sensitive items containers back, and all sensitive items are accounted for and 2404s for all equipment is complete. Concurrently, we planned, rehearsed, and readied our equipment to execute an LPD and VALEX ahead of our assumption on OSBn at 0900 on Monday, 19 SEP.

WIN TODAY -
1-508 PIR conducted no operations, ranges, or Airborne operations these past two weeks. Our focus to build readiness across our formation has been recovering our equipment and preparing to assume OSBn.

WIN TOMORROW. -
On Tuesday, 20 SEP, leaders from 1-508 PIR attended an OSBn LPD hosted by 3-73 CAV that educated our leaders and future node OICs/NCOICs about OSBn duties and responsibilities. In turn, we hosted 3BCT leaders on Thursday, 15 SEP, on our own LPD / validation exercise that demonstrated we are confident and competent in our responsibilities as the OSBn. - 1-508 PIR had a great week with regards to continuing the education of Paratroopers. We currently have one Paratrooper (SSG Hart, HHC) in Ranger School; he is in Florida and is set to graduate on 23 SEP. We had one leader (SGT Domer, D Co) pass PWAC, and we have 6 x leaders set to begin Jumpmaster School on Monday, 19 SEP (with up to 8 x additional walk-ons ready). Lastly, we have 3 x Paratroopers in Pathfinder School, 1 x Paratrooper in RSLC, and 13 x Paratroopers set to begin Air Assault School on Monday, 19 SEP.

READY AND RESILIENT. - Across the BN, all companies conducted their quarterly EO and SHARP training for the 4th quarter.

EDUCATE AND INFORM -
Following recovery from JRTC, the BN will host a Hail & Farewell on Thursday, 22 SEP. Several companies will also conduct FRG company organizational days. - 2 x Snipers (SGT Martens and SPC Featherston, HHC) participated in the Ft. Bragg International Sniper Competition over this past weekend. The team placed 3rd, earning them a spot in the upcoming International Sniper Competition at Ft. Benning, GA. - HHC conducted a monthly FRG Meeting this past Tuesday at the Pope FRG Center. Topics of discussion included available local events, the training calendar, and expectations surrounding 1-508 PIR's assumption of OSBn.
