SITREP 508/1 - 20 JUNE 2020

Operational Summary:
1Fury acknowledges the upward trend of COVID cases in North Carolina and on FBNC and has adjusted its posture ICW with DIV guidance to prevent the further spread of the virus. For training, the Battalion completed EIB/ESB testing for Group A with 39 Paratroopers from 1FURY earning their EIB/ESB. The Battalion operationalized OPERATION WRENCH last week by integrating mission command training with the maintenance readiness program. Battalion and companies conducted parallel planning and executed orders and rehearsals prior to execution. The Battalion similarly operationalized “OPERATION FURY SKIRMISH,” a mission command rehearsal integrated into a mass tactical airborne operation in preparation for OPN PANTHER STORM. Looking forward, the Battalion will transition to EIB/ESB testing this Friday and range walks/backbriefs the following week in preparation for collective training in August/September.

Personnel:

 a) Paratrooper of the Week: SPC Sierras, D/1-508TH PIR. SPC Sierras demonstrated intestinal fortitude throughout the Expert Infantryman Badge (EIB) testing week. Despite suffering a sprained ankle during Night Land Navigation, SPC Sierras refused to quit, and fought on to earn his EIB. SPC Sierras stood alone as the only junior enlisted Paratrooper in D/1-508TH PIR to earn this honor. SPC Sierras’ will and desire to keep himself mentally alert and physically strong throughout a grueling test week speaks volume to his tenacity and warrior spirit. SPC Sierras led by example and provides a character other Paratroopers will look to emulate, and he will continue to cultivate a winning culture as he sets his eyes on SURT and Ranger School. His exceptional performance and grit are truly inspirational to his seniors, peers and the entire Fury team.

SPC Ray Sierras

 b) Unit Training Level Proficiency (T): 18 of the 20 selected vehicles for OPERATION WRENCH completed the road march. An additional 5 vehicles, not selected by DIV or BDE, completed the road march as well. 37 Fury Paratroopers earned their EIB and two Paratroopers earned their ESB during testing Group A, 14 of which were “True Blue” and one which was “Pure Edge”
