SITREP 508/1 -  22 DEC- 24 Dec  2020

1.  Commander’s Comments:

1-508TH PIR number one priority is maintaining IRB-1 readiness, and to that end protecting the force from COVID-19. For COVID-19 mitigation, the Battalion implemented mission essential manning and the directed Restriction of Movement order to reduce infection and quarantines rates in advance of the 3BCT’s deployment to JRTC. Mission essential tasks last week included JRTC 21-04 rail outload support, maintenance operations for the JBC DRE, and Tier 2 COVID vaccinations. Our mechanics returned from quarantine under an approved ETP and immediately resumed work on maintenance. The current mission essential task for this week is continuation of maintenance operations in preparation for the JBC DRE. Additionally, TF FURY received OPCON 50 x vehicles, to include organic drivers and TCs, from 3-73 CAV and 2-504 PIR, 1BCT. 1BCT will comprise four serials for the ground assault movement to JBC, task organized organically.  TF FURY also received OPCON 30 vehicles, to include drivers and TCs from across 3BCT’s rear detachment. TF FURY aligned contributing units from 3BCT organically to serials commanded by 1-508TH Company Commanders. An additional 95 Paratroopers from across the 3BCT rear detachment will participate in the JBC DRE as bus movement personnel.

Next week, TF FURY will conduct an internal full dress rehearsal (OPN FURY 500), to include serial movements and AMO packet inspections. TF FURY will conduct the CAR with enablers on Tuesday. The first movement for the JBC DRE is on 28 January, with 300 personnel from TF FURY departing via bus to JBC.

Separately, 1-508TH PIR stood up the 3BCT Rear-Detachment last week. NCOICs and OICs met with the Battalion Command team to establish priorities and understand respective units’ troops to task. The Rear-Detachment will ensure accomplishment of mission essential tasks in support of the 3BCT while ensuring the management of personnel appointments. This includes supporting 3BCT’s JFE with a detail to pack and load parachutes. The Battalion leadership will also support the Division’s IRF management working groups beginning today to provide perspective on the IRF cycle tasking density.

Key Events Next Week:

Monday, 25 0400 January: OPN FURY 500 (Full Dress Rehearsal)
Tuesday, 26 1000 January: JBC DRE CAR, Funk Gym
Wednesday, 27 2000 January: N Hour Alert for JBC DRE

Finally, the Battalion conducted DRC Vehicle Maintenance in accordance with our two-week company transition cycle to identify and rectify faults.
