SITREP 508/1 -  25 FEBRUARY - 3 MARCH 2021

1. Commander’s Comments:

1-508TH PIR’s number one priority remains IRB-1 readiness with focus on increasing our COVID-19 vaccinated population. This week alone, over 50x personnel received their 1st dose vaccination with additional personnel opting-in daily. As of 03 March, 161x have received their first dose and 116x are series complete. The Battalion published terms and definitions for Division’s Operational Readiness Cycle (ORC) for dissemination to our junior enlisted. By explaining and discussing the ORC, the Battalion’s leaders will drive the predictability narrative across the formation. Task organization changes to the Battalion include the loss of A/1-508TH PIR, OPCON to 1-509TH PIR (TF GERONIMO – JRTC OPFOR), in support of JRTC RTN 21-05. The Battalion gained A/2-505TH PIR, TACON, as an addition to the IRB-1. Additionally, Engineer and Field Artillery enablers returned to the IRB-1 following conclusion of the JRTC RTN 21-04 R-RSOI this week.

Other areas of emphasis over the past two weeks included marksmanship, airborne proficiency, vehicle services, and execution of SRP and rail down load in support of the BCT’s redeployment from JRTC. For training, the Battalion executed 11x flat ranges and jumped 74x Paratroopers and 2x 1167s HE drop platforms. Additionally, 4x Paratroopers graduated Jumpmaster School this week, to include A/1-508TH and B/1-508TH’s Company Commanders, CPT Dan May and CPT Tyler Owen. Separately, C/1-508TH PIR conducted IVAS familiarization training in preparation for STP4 execution in April. The Battalion Command team also attended Division’s Project Convergence 21 meeting with the JMC Commander to discuss IVAS integration. Finally, the Battalion participated in SHARP/EO and ASIST training throughout the week to improve our leaders’ counseling skills on these essential Army Programs.

The Battalion executed its “Fury Focus Week” internal battle rhythm this week in line with the Division’s All American Day. Key events this week included the following:
