1. Commander’s Comments:
1-508TH PIR’s number one priority remains IRB-1 readiness. Focus areas over the last two weeks included the DRE, CONSKILLS, IVAS preparations for Soldier Touchpoint 4 (STP4), and airborne operations. The IRB-1 participated in the Corps-initiated DRE last week to validate the 18-hour sequence. Afterward, the Advanced Airborne School provided refresher training to company-level leaders and then facilitated hands-on work to re-create AMO packets. After re-training, the Battalion successfully passed JI for 31 Bravo echelon vehicles and prepared packets for C echelon vehicles. With the discrepancies identified in the AMO packets and Joint Inspections (JI), the staff analyzed what it means to be “JI ready” and also what the average throughput is through the ADACG for pre-inspections. The Battalion answered these questions and submitted feedback to the BCT staff, along with recommended AMO and SRP packet examples.
For CONSKILLS, the Battalion is hosting a Team Leader Course, Master Marksmanship Training, Machine Gunners’ Course, RTO and CLS Academies, to include DEMO, AT, and Hand Grenade training. CONSKILLS runs this week and next.
Looking ahead, the Battalion will participate in the OSE VALEX exercises with AA8. Priorities for next two weeks include completion of Extremism Stand-Down training and enrollment into TACOM Alert, preparation and participation in PANTHER WEEK, and continued SR 21 planning.
