Divorcee Fatally Shot In E. Point

An East Point man fatally shot his divorced wife Sunday morning during an argument over alimony and threatened to shoot her male companion if he said "a word," police reported.
Mrs. Lillie Mae Cochran, 32, suffered two bullet wounds in the head while sitting in an auto in front of her former husband's home, officers said. She died some two hours later.
EX-HUSBAND HELD
Held on disorderly conduct-suspicion of murder charges is Henry G. Cochran, 34, of 2179 Stanton Cir., East Point. He was arrested in the kitchen of his home the officers said.
A .22 caliber pistol, fully loaded, was found in his pocket and two
spent cartridges were found inside the house, the police related.
Officers said Mrs. Cochran, divorced from her carpenter-laborer husband last December, was found slumped over in
the driver's seat. A male companion, who was listed as owner of the vehicle and a friend of Mrs.
Cochran, was seated in the right front seat.
THREAT CHARGED
Police said the man. identified as Roy Bradford of 550 Washington St., SW, told them Cochran also said, "If you move I will shoot you."
Officers were notified by neighbors. Mrs. Cochran was sped to Grady Hospital shortly after the incident happened at 10:50 a.m. She died at 1 p.m. Mrs. Cochran had gone to see her divorced husband about alimony payments, police said. An

argument ensued, and she was shot, they related. Motorcycle PtI. C. L. Garner and Ted Lieb answered the first call. They were later assisted by J. E. Godfrey and Capt. W. H. Tyler.
Mrs. Cochran had been residing in Roswell.
She is survived by two children, Michael, 10, and Rebecca 12; her mother, Mrs. E. L. Staton, East Point, and five brothers, C. C. Staton, East Point; H. E. Staton, Roswell; H. W Staton, Augusta; L. E. Staton, Albany, and B. J. Staton, El Paso Texas.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by the Roswell Funeral Home, Roswell.
