Winfred Keck enlisted in the Army at Covington, KY on
24 September 1940.
Initially assigned to Company C, 508th PIR, he was
transferred to Hq Hq on 23 July 1944.
Pvt Keck was seriously wounded in action on 30
September 1944 and was evacuated to a field hospital. He was then
transferred to the 52nd General Hospital in Wolverley village, near
Kiddeminster (Worcestershire), England.
At
some point he was transport over 300 miles north to the west coast of
Scotland. On 19 February 1945, Pvt Keck arrived in New York City
from Gourock, Scotland aboard the Queen Elizabeth.
On 9 March 1945, Pvt Keck was discharged from the
