HENRY S. MCMASTERS

[courtesy of Cathy (Reed) Macias]

Grave marker for Henry S. McMasters in the Fairlawn Cemetery, Comanche (Stephens county), Oklahoma.

"Mac" enlisted the Army at Oklahoma City, OK on 3 November 1941 and was assigned to Company C, 508th PIR.

Pvt McMasters was wounded in action in France on 7 July 44 and again in Belgium on 7 January 1945.  He was also taken captive and apparently escaped at some point in time.  The event was not recorded in any Morning Report but Pfc McMasters was amongst a group of men listed as "Recovered Prisoners of War" that were sent home early on 27 July 1945.
