Pre-Thanksgiving Football Kickoff was scheduled for 1400 hours, Sunday Nov 11, 1945 in the Victory Stadium, Frankfurt. The 'Cockades' of the 3rd Infantry Regt. was slated to face off against the 508th Red Devils the Fighting 508th |
Each team boasted a 42-man lineup and the program included not only the player's name and position but also their body weight and home state. |
The Cockades, although an opposing team, may well have had men from home towns of the 508th. There may well have been some interesting reunions as this team, and others, played against the Red Devils. |
Winning Season the Red Devils proved just as tough on the grid iron as the battlefield. Undefeated in the preceding 6 games, the devils virtually routed some of their opponents.
They had one game left, to be played in Nice, France against the
