I wish to express my thanks that we may all be here on this Thanksgiving Day and my appreciation to all the men of this Battalion for the fine work that you are now doing.

ROYAL R. TAYLOR
Major, Infantry
Command, 2nd Bn.

Normally Thanksgiving Day is a rare occasion by virtue of the fact that it comes only once in a year.  But this year it comes at a special and opportune time in the aftermath of a miserable war, a vicious war that taught us that it is only a previlege [sic] and not a right to be here today to give thanks for he little things that count so much.  God bless you and yours.

LOUIS G. MENDEZ, JR.
Lt. Colonel, Infantry
commanding, 508th Prcht. Inf.
