Pvt Joe K. Davis
received his parachute wings on April 26 [1946] after he made his
last jump at Frankfurt, Germany, where he is now stationed.
Davis has been stationed with the 508th Parachute Infantry since he
went overseas on April 1. He entered the service on October
31, 1945. |

Miamian Vacations
On French Riviera NICE,
France --- Pfc Lawrence F. Rhoades, Miami, Okla., with Company C,
508th Parachute Infantry regiment, while on recent furlough in this
exclusive resort, took advantage of a scenic tour via motor coach
along the Mediterranean coast to the playground city of Monte
Carlo. Private
Rhoades has been in the Army 20 months, 12 of which he spent
overseas. He is now stationed in Frankfurt, Germany.
A machinist before his induction, his home address is Miami Route 1.
He is the son of Russell Rhodes. |

HAL BATTLE CALLS FROM OVERSEAS
Mr. and Mrs. Joe Hayden were awakened at 2 o'clock
this morning to receive a long distance telephone call from her son.
J. Hal Battle, who called from Switzerland.
Hal, a former Big Spring high school football player and at present
assigned to the 508th Paratroop battalion, is currently on furlough
from his outfit in Germany. |
