"THE RED CROSS IS OVER THERE"
--- Asking one of the most popular questions in the occupation army,
Neal Casey, Mason City, has stopped a guard of the 508th parachute
infantry regiment, of which he is a member, for directions to the
Red Cross club in their area. Casey, son of Mr. and Mrs.
C. J. Casey, 820 Jefferson, N. W., left for overseas in Feb. 1946,
volunteered for parachutist training and is now stationed in
Heddernheim, Germany, just outside of Frankfurt. Attending
jump school for 8 weeks, Neal completed the 5 jumps and is now
assigned to the 598th regimental medics. He entered the army
in April, 1945, after attending Iowa University for one year.

Will Return To U.S.
Capt. Howard A. Greenawalt, 3627
Montour street, will return soon to the United States from Germany
to rejoin the 82nd Division at Fort Bragg, N.C., for new training.
He was stationed overseas with the 508th Parachute Infantry
Regiment. The captain's wife and daughter, Nancy Louise,
returned recently from Frankfurt.

Pfc Bob Varner,
paratrooper, son of Mr. and Mrs. Levi Varner, who is spending a few
days with his parents after arriving in the city wil leave Thursday
for Ft. Snelling, Minn., and from there will go overseas to the the
508th Parachute regiment in Frankfort, Germany. Varner has
been in the service 2 years and 7 months and spent 19 months

in Paris
Reunited
while en furlough In Paris recently were Pfc Dwight G. Nagel and his
brother, Cpl Merlyn S. Nagel (left to right), sons of Mr. and Mrs.
A. E. Nagel. 226 Helen street. Cpl Nagel is in the medical
detachment of the 508th parachute infantry division, Frankfurt,
Germany, and Pvt. Nagel is with the 333d Harbor Craft company at
Dieppe, France. Both have been In the service three years, one of
which has been overseas. |
