RECREATION IN THE ARMY OF
OCCUPATION --- Pvt Donald L. Glaspey (left), nephew of John F.
Glaspey, 315 Indiana, S.E., is shown above at one of the army
recreation spots in Frankfurt, Germany, just finishing a game of
ping pong with one of his airborne buddies. Don is stationed
with the 508th parachute infantry in parachute service and the
regiment now is honor guard at United States forces European theatre
headquarters. Before the end of the war he was a rifleman with
the 501st parachute regiment and now wears two bronze battle stars
and the combat infantryman badge. Entering the army in June 1944,
Don came overseas one year ago. He formerly was employed
with Decker Bros. in Mason City [IA].

taken by Cpl Charles Sorlien, Mason City, stationed with
headquar4ers in Frankfurt and has the endorsement of Maj. G. H.
Dorsey of the Signal Corps. "Chuck," Globe-Gazette composing
room member, also submitted the above story about his fellow

Wayne Scheduled To Sail For
U.S.A.
Mr. and Ms., Harry
Cyril Wayne, formerly of Dooleyville, received a cablegram from
their son yesterday, Pfc Jogn c. Wayne, stated that his Regiment,
the 508th Parachute Infantry was scheduled to sail from Frankfurt,
German yesterday, October 10th, bound for the United States.
Pvt Wayne has been in the service two years and overseas 20 months.

Pfc. Ralph
Arnold, who has been in Germany with the 508th parachute infantry,
has notified his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Arnold, Sr., that he
sailed for home Oct 10. |
