Our Men In Service
Mrs. William Torreance,
of 314 St. Mary's Road, city, has received word that
her son, William Torreance, has arrived in Europe
and is stationed at Frankfurt, Germany, with the
508th Parachute Division. [sic]
Private First Class Torreance enlisted last January, and after
training at various bases enrolled for paratroop and
glider training which he completed July 5th last.
His mother attended the graduation exercises, after
which he was home on brief furlough before he was
sent overseas.

Wayne Scheduled To
Sail For U.S.A.
Mr.. and Mrs. Harry
Cyril Wayne, Pottsville, formerly of Dooleyville,
received a cablegram from their son yesterday, Pfc
John C. Wayne, stating that his Regiment, the 508th
Parachute Infantry was scheduled to sail from
Frankfurt, Germany, yesterday, October 10th,bound
for the United States.
Pvt Wayne has been in the service two years and overseas 20 months.

not have read the various articles [above] which
were published as much as 20 days earlier. That and the
fact that the theatres that the regiment fought in
is almost totally inaccurate, makes this news tidbit
very incorrect. |
