THOMAS BRODERICK, HO 1st

THOMAS BRODERICK, HQ 1ST, died on February 11, 2006, and news of Tom's death was reported on the NBC Nightly News a few days later. Tom's story of perseverance, courage, and outstanding success in life was told in the opening chapter of Tom Brokaw's book, "THE GREATEST GENERATION."

508th PIR ACTIVATED
AS THE 4th BRIGADE COMBAT TEAM

It's official. The 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment was activated as the 4th Brigade Combat Team at 1400 hours on 6th January, 2006 at Fort Bragg, NC. Witnessing the ceremony, representing the World War II 508th were KENNETH J. (ROCK) MERRITT (Hq 1st),  MR. & MRS. EDWARD J. WODOWSKI (A Co), JIM SMITH (B Co), and MR. & MRS. WALTER BARRETT (B Co). The commander of the newly activated brigade is COL VICTOR PETRENKO, the Command Sergeant Major is ROGER HOWARD.
