Q. State your name, rank, serial number and permanent home address.

A. Harold K Green Pfc 15333174. My permanent home address is 1206 Holmes Avenue, Indianapolis Indiana.

 

 

Q. When and where were you born?

A. August 11, 1924 at Corbin Kentucky.

Q. What is your education?

A. 2 years of high school period

Q. What was your civilian occupation?

A. I drove a truck for my father.

Q. Have you recently been returned to the United States from overseas?

A. Yes, I arrived In the United States 15 May 1945.

Q. Were you a prisoner of war?

A. Yes.

Q. In what places were you held and state the approximate dates.

A. I was captured on 11 June 1944 near Rouvielle, France and taken via 3 transient camps in France to Stalag XII-A, Limberglahm, Germany remaining from 23 August 1944 until 2 September 1944, thence to Stalag VII-A , Moosburg, Germany from 5 September 1944 to 19 September 1944. I was then placed in Kommando No. 4058-4059 at a farm called Gerolsbach near Schrobenhousen, Germany where I remained on 19 September 1944 until 18 October 1944. I was then taken into the city of Schrobenhousen on the same kommando where I remained until liberation on 28 April 1945.

Q. Will you state what you know regarding the killing of private division of Chicago, Illinois?

A. Nothing Sir.

Q. State what was told you and who told you?

The information I have regarding the killing of Private DeVay was passed on to me by Private Thomas J, Kelly of New York City whose military unit was Company “C” 508 Parachuted Infantry. Kelly was an eyewitness to the killing and related to me the following information. He stated that a group of American prisoners of war were being transported by train to Chalon, France. While en route this train was bombed. All the men in this train. After the initial attack, left the train and took cover. After the raid was over DeVey was one of the last men to return to the train. One of the German officers accused him of trying to escape and ordered him shot. He was shot by a German guard.

Q. Do you have any further information relative to the killing of private DeVay?

A. No,

Green, 15333174, and gave the foregoing answers to several questions set forth; that after his testimony had been transcribed, the said Pfc Harold K, green read the same and affixed his signature thereto in my presence.
