Leave For Schools
WALHALLA, Sept. 11 --- Quite
a large group of young girls and boys will leave Walhalla this week
to enter college, some resuming -their school work, others entering
the freshman classes.
Among those leaving are: Misses Catherine Hughs, Elizabeth Moss, Margie
Pike, Eulalle Puckharbcr, Winthrop college; Misses Bessie Reese and
Edna Norma Pitchford, Lander college; Miss Annie Laurie DuPre, University
of South Carolina; Misses Nannette Sloan and Norma Humphries, Queens-Chicora,
Charlotte, N. C. Misses Andarienne Farmer, Macie Powell, Leontlne Powell
and Vivian Powell, Limestone college; Miss Jessie Suddeth. Rabun Gap,
Ga.; Miss Dorothy Ernest, Bcrea College, Berea, Ky.'; McCurry Neville,
Frank Jones, Louis Clark, Wesley Pitchford, William DuPre, Simon Pell,
Allison Rhodes, Charles Hetrick, Darwin Addis, Fred Thode, to Clemson
college; Sidney Ballenger and Fred Gillespie, Wofford college; William
Aull, University of South Carolina; Arthur Aull, College of Charleston;

GILLESPIE
HONORED
WALHALLA, May 25. Fred
E. Gillespie, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. Frank Gillespie, of Walhalla, and
a rising senior at Wofford college, this week was chosen captain of
Scabbard and Blade, national honorary military organization, for the
coming session. This week he was also initiated into the Blue Key honorary
fraternity at Wofford along with three other students. He was elected
president of the senior class for next year. He has held a number of
offices on the campus during his three years at Wofford.
