1944 Oct. 20 Activated at Camp Blanding., Florida; Lieutenant Col. Roy J. Lindquist commanding

Feb. 3 Entrains for Fort Benning, Georgia.
  Mar. 25 Lieutenant Colonel Lindquist promoted to Colonel.
  Apr. 1 Assembled at Camp .Mackall,  N.   Carolina
  May 21 Start for maneuvers  in Cheraw,  South Carolina.
  May 28 Return to Camp Mackall
  Aug. 9 First night jump
  Sep. 7 Main body detrains at Taylorsville, Tennessee to participate in Second Army maneuvers.
  Sep. 12 Maneuvers begin with a motor march to  La Guarde
  Oct. 23 Leaves Gallatin by train.
  Nov. 4 Celebrated first anniversary two weeks  late.
  Dec. 19 Leave  for Camp  Shanks,   New York.
  Dec. 27 Board the USAT James Parker
  Dec. 28 Ship heads  for deep water.
1944 Jan. 8 Arrive at Belfast,   Northern Ireland
  Jan. 9 Indoctrination begins  at Cromore,   near Port   Stewart,   N. I.
  Mar. 11 Leaves by  ship to  Scotland;   then by   train  to Nottingham.
  May 28 Attached   to  82nd.
  June 6 D-day.  At  0215  jump in flak-torn sky.   Widely  scattered.
  June 7 On Hill 30 near west bank of the Merderet .liver.
  June 8 Plasma and  ammunition giving. out.
  June 9 Assembled  as  a unit  across   the   La Fière  causeway.
  June 10 Announcement of the Presidential Distinguished Unit
Citation awarded regiment.
  June 13 Crossed Douve River to the south at Beuzeville-la-Bastille for bloody battle for town of Baupte.
  June 19 3rd Battalion crossed the Douve west of Etienville in assault boats.
  June 20 3rd Battalion captures Pretot after dawn. Casualties heavy.
  July 3 Regiment south of Hill 131 ready to take off next morn..
  July 4 Ordered to continue attack towards Hill 95.
